On 5 February 2002, dancer / teacher / choreographer Lula Washington videoconferenced a dance class from the Arts4All studio in New York City to the University of Akron, Akron Ohio, where fifth-grade students from Miller South School for the Visual and Performing Arts had gathered. [Arts4All, Ltd. is the Publisher of this Newsletter.] For this class, Ms. Washington incorporated material from the life of Harriet Tubman, facts about the Underground Railroad during the era of slavery in the United States, live gospel singing, African drumming and actual slave narration.
