Volume I, Issue 2
/ 19 July 1999
Welcome
to the second issue of Arts4All Newsletter.
Take a moment
to express yourself at A4A Comments.
You can write to us about what you want to see in future issues, what
you like about what you've seen so far, how you think the Newsletter
can improve. You can also select from a number of possible areas of
interest you'd like to see more of in future.
In this issue,
we continue with Therese Schwartz's
four-part survey of the New York City art world, as experienced over
the 1997 - 1998 season. In the second installment, her gallery-going
focuses on the abundance of painters venturing individually along
paths of their own making, out from the shadow of the famous names
and famous movements that went before.
You'll also get
a glimpse from Carol Schuberg of the
cross-cultural excitement she experienced bringing that vibrantly
American musical, Bob Fosse's Sweet Charity, to the singers
and dancers of the Istanbul Opera and Ballet Company. From her first
Turkish massage at the bath house to the dancers' first shimmies at
the rehearsal hall, this was cultural exchange in action.
New in this issue,
the Limón Dance Company has provided its performance
and residency schedule for the 1999 / 2000 season (including dates
in California, Florida, Upper New York State, New England, and home
in New York City). You can anticipate more information like this in
the future. Contact the Newsletter for information if you are
interested in this service.
Those of you
visiting for the first time can sign up for a free summer subscription
by going to the Subscribe
page. A subscription will ensure you receive an email
from us announcing each new issue. The Arts4All
Basics describe the subscribe process, as well.
Our
first Newsletter is on hand, if
you want to take a look.
In our August
Newsletters, along with more articles like these, look for input from
emerging composers, painters and photographers. We're working on including
works of poetry and short fiction as well. And if you have a policy
question or a cause dear to your heart, consider letting us know.
The Newsletter's op-ed page is ready when you are. August's
Newsletters will also introduce another new feature - ongoing threaded
discussions about topics of interest to you. Look for A4A Discussion
in the next issue.
We invite your
comments, recommendations, suggestions for articles, and other creative
input. Send your emails to editor@arts4all.com. Or while
you're here, you can visit the A4A Comments
and tell us about your preferences and interests.
For subscription,
permissions, privacy policy, classified advertising and other basic
