9 March 1999

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN,

We, the undersigned, have performed in many opera and ballet performances. After a break of several years we have again performed Tatli Charity (Sweet Charity) on 6 March 1999 in front of an Istanbul audience.

We have had the opportunity of working with many foreign producers, choreographers and their assistants. While working with Mr. Tony Stevens in putting Sweet Charity on stage, thanks to his calm and confident manner and his warm interest in us all during our short break times, a difficult two months passed as a pleasant and fun working period.

While putting such a big production on the stage Mr. Stevens and his delightful assistant Miss Carol Schuberg took a deep personal interest in the soloists, choristers, musicians and dancers and not only did they draw out artistic abilities, but they took a personal interest in each one of us as friends.

During the eight weeks we were together they taught us and the technical staff who have a very heavy load, everything about this production without raising their voices and keeping incredibly calm, which is very unusual in show business. After they had taught us all that we learn from them, they departed from us with tears on both sides, having left the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet Company with this wonderful gift which audiences will watch and applaud.

We would like to thank everyone who assisted financially and with their moral support in helping to bring both Mr. Tony Stevens and Miss Carol Schuberg to Turkey and making it possible for us to work in such an enjoyable atmosphere and to learn from them how to develop our artistic skills and be able to perform Sweet Charity on the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet Stage.
