Betty Jones and José Limón in The Moor's Pavane

Following are links to a selection (1 minute 40 seconds) from original footage telecast by the Canadian Broadcasting Company on 6 March 1955, featuring Betty Jones, José Limón, Lucas Hoving and Pauline Koner in The Moor's Pavane, Limón's 1949 dance based on Othello. Footage courtesy the Canadian Broadcasting Company and the Limón Institute, New York City.

The clip is available to those of you with a high-speed Internet connection (for example, DSL, cable modem, ISDN, T-1 or T10), streaming at 300kps. We present it formatted for three media players:

Click the format you'd like to try.

You may need to wait a little while for your media player software to get ready, so be patient. If you need to download free media player software for your computer, please consult the Newsletter's links page, Internet Software You Can Use, for links to the software makers.

Why is the dance footage not available for viewing on computers with slower Internet connections? Because dance demands sufficient bandwidth to present the movement smoothly - a slower Internet connection would not do justice to the art form.

Comments, please:
If you would like to see more streaming footage of dance, or have other comments about this part of the Betty Jones Profile, please let us know. We'd also be very interested to know which of these three streaming formats works the best for you.
